PRESS TICKETS.
Under the r.bove heading the Mo
rinsville "Star" leaderettes the fol-
lowing : "During the past few years
there has been frequently a laxity
about 'press tickets.' It sometimes
happened that a representative of the
'Star' attended a function for which no ticket was sent to the office. A personal explanation had *o be made before admission was gained. It was not always pleasant. Sometimes the impression was conveyed that the reporter was 'dodging paying' ; whereas probably it was only the necessity'of obtaining a report which look him to the particular gathering. Unless a press ticket is forwarded for all functions or entertainments, we shall, v.) accordance with the custom, take it that the presence of a reporter and a report in the paper are not desired."
Some time ago we had occasion io complain about the laxity in sending press tickets to the "Gazette" office. The continual absence or any reference whatever to the function tic; head of which neglected to forward the customary "press complimentary' soon asserted itself, with the remit that we have now nothing to complain of regarding our admission tickets. It should be understood by all secretaries that it is often inconvenient for a reporter to attend some entertainments, more especially if they are out of town, to say nothing of the expense entailed and the timo occupied in the office in compiling the report, which sometimes is not ol general public interest.
