A POWERFUL PERFUME.

The most persuasive and durable perfume is said to be musk, the odour of which has been known to-endur* for centuries. In proof of this statement it is asserted that the mosque of St. Sophia, at Moscow, built in th« tenth century, still retains distinctly the odour of the musk which was mixed with the mortar in its construction. The monks of the convent of Santa Maria Novella, at Florence, have been famous for more than four centuries for the precious secret recipes of perfumes and healing balms handed down from herbs and flowers grown in the convent garden.
