PROCEEDINGS ADJOURNED

A Commission, consisting of Messrs H. M. Skeet, Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman), and Mr W. F. Wallace, sat at the Courthouse, Thames yesterday, to take evidence and report as to the desirability or otherwise of constituting Hauraki Plains a separate County. Mr Clendon, with him Mr Walton, appeared for the petitioners, no other party to the inquiry putting in an appearance. M," Skeet stated that he had received an application for an adjournment from the council for the objectors, but this had been declined owing to th«j difficulty of communication with all parties telegraph at present.

At tliis stage the acting-chairman of the Board of Health came on the scene and asked that the proceedings be terminated. . '
