DOREEN POLAND AND LULU VUGLAR THE WINNERS.

At half-past nine silence was called in order to announce the name of the winner of the Juvenile Queen Contest, but two names were announced—Lulu Vuglar and Dcreen Poland, who tied with 26560 votes each. Vigorous applause followed showing how popular was the win.

The queens who contested and their amounts are as follows :—

In announcing the result of the Juvenile Queens Contest Mr White took the opportunity of thanking the committee, especially the ladies, for the splendid and harmonious way they had air worked, and the people for the response tq the great'appeal. He was gratified beyond measure of the achievements of Paeroa and district. At about 15 minutes before the stated closing time for the Ohinemuri Queen Carnival Mr Poland, M.P., gave a final stirring appeal to the people for a few hundred pounds, to which the people promptly responded, no leas than £400 being raised in the theatre in that unbelieveably short space of time. Mr Poland said he knew, no one knew better than he, how grand the people had been. They had; given nobly to a noble cause..
