RIVER IMPROVEMENTS.

TWO CONTRACTS LET

We understand that a further two contracts for erecting stop banks have been let by the Public Works Department. These contracts cover a little over a mile in length, and are to be completed in eight months, This work will commence a little above the Mill Road on the western bank of the river, and extend to the old flax mill site. The successful tenderer for this important work was Mr John Keane, of Waihi, and the price for the two is in the vicinity of £5000. A start was to be made, felling the bush and clearing, to-day.
