THE ORCHARD BRIDGE.

PtANS COMPLETED.

The special rating district .over which a loan is being raised for the erection of *a bridge at Orchard is principally in Thames County. The Thames -ratepayers have given in writing their consent to the raising of their portion of the loan, but so far the signatures . of a sufficient number of the Ohinemuri ratepayers has not been received to the petition for a loan. The matter was mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Thames County Council, but tbe Chairman (Mr R; W. Bagnall) said they could in the meantime go on with the necessary preliminary steps. The plans were forwarded to the Public Works Department for approval some three weeks ago.
