HORSES FOR THE WAR.

♦ • ■ Contrary to the expressed opinion of many professed jndges, no difficulty is being experienced by Colonel Reakes and his officers in procuring suitable horses for every succeeding draft of reinforcements for the iront, and there ore still many ot the mofe 1 remote districts which have not yet been visited by remount buyers. Two rules are being observed by the buyers with the greatest strictness—-they will not send away from New Zealand good mares oi whatever age, and they are buying no animals less than five years old. Their experience to date has been such that it does not seem at all probable that either of these rules may have'to be broken. The supply of suitable horses is not by any means exhausted yet.
