WAIHI BEACH.

THE NEW ROAD

The popularity of the new Waihi Beach Road was much in evidence on

Sunday. Vehicles, horsemen, motor cars (two) and bicycles in an irregular order streamed out on to the newlymade road from a comparatively early hour in the morning, and during the day the beach and its surroundings were dotted with men, women and children. The journey, notwithstanding the fact of the newly-made road, is comfortable, and may be accomplished in the appreciable time of an hour or thereabouts. Cyclists or motor car drivers can cover the route in a much shorter time. Mr Beaton, in conveying passengers to the beach on Sunday in his tour-teamed brake, covered the journey comfortably in a little over the hour, the return journey occupying a little more time. The drive to and from the beach was enjoyed by all, and there can be no doubt that during the Christmas holidays the road will be the most used in the Ohinemuri district. A rough bathing shed for the convenience of ladies is badly needed, as at the present time there is no place for women and girls to undress. The Council would be doing a good work it they spent a pound or two in this direction.—Waihi Telegraph.
