The Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers Improvement Bill parsed both the House and the Legislative Council with very little discussion. After the Bill passed the third reading in the House, the Hon. R. McKenzie (Minister for Mines) received numerous congratulations on his work in connection with this measure, and was complimented for the expeditious manner in which the Bill had been passed.
