SWIMMING BATHS.
POWER TO RAISE A LOAN.
It will be remembered that last year the project of establishing swimming baths in Paeroa was discussed, but it was then discovered that there was no power for a County Council to raise a loan for that purpose. Representations were made to Mr H. Poland, M.P., and he promised to assist when the Public Works Act was before the House for amendment. In connection with this matter the following letter from Mr Poland was read at yesterday's meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council:—" I am pleased to inform you that two clauses have been placed in the Public Works Amendment. Bill, which passed the House this evening (25th November) at my request and on behalf of your Council. The clauses are clause 9, referring to the establishment of swimming baths, and the amendment of clause 116 shown in the second
schedule." "
