Ohinemuri County Council.

The usual monthly meeting; of the Ohineinuri' County Council was held at tho* Council Chambers, Paeroa, on Thursday afternoon last, when there were present: Cra Barry (Chairman), Stackpole, Poland, Maninan, McClelland, Cassrels, Saunders, Moore, •and Bowler. Fergusson(accepted).. 13 19 0 Hampden and Co. 14 0 3 The .outward correspondence was read and approved. It was decided to pay McLennan and Hope £10 for work done on the Grace Darling Eoad. Repairs are to bo nude to the Karangahake reservoir. A stock of fittings for the water supplies is to be obtained. .

A letter was read from Mr H. P. GrotZ; on behalf of tho butchers of Ohinermiri, asking- for several alterations to be made in the abattoir bylaws. —A number of butchers waited on the Council, and Mi 1 King* who represented them) expressed the views of the butchers on the. matter. — It was decided that the by-laws remain as at.present. Porter and Oo.'s application for a magazine was refused. The Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and specifications for a new m gazine. Mr Jas. McAudrew asked permission to enlarge the creek at the Junction in order to allow logs to be taken up to his mill. He also asked for the biidge over the creek to be lengthened, and offored to provide the necessary stringers.—lt was decided to spend a sum not exceeding £20 on $he work. The Chairman said he considered Waihi, had been treated very badly during the past year, only £651 having been spent there in 12 months, while £5,958 had been spent in the County within six months. This, he said, did not include expenditure on main roads. He suggested doing work at Waihi to the extent of £3,401. — After considerable discussion, it was decided that the Engineer be instructed to call tenders at next meeting for £1500 worth of work in Waiki. It was decided that at next meeting a return be supplied of the amount of money spent in each riding for the last 12 months, and also a return of the revenue from each riding.

Cr Stackpole moved that tenders he called for metalling Hill and Butlerstreets, .Karangahake, and for decreasing the grade of the track up Dolierty's Creek Hill. — This was carried. On the motion of Cr McClelland, it was decided to metal the road to the Jubilee mine. The Engineer was instructed to report on the necessary repairs to the Golden Cross Road. Cr Bowler moved that the Engineer obtain the trucks and rails for the Paeroa - Waitoa Road, — This was carried. Cr Moore moved that the contract for the Netnerton Road be determined, and fresh tenders called for the work. —Carried. It was decided that the Council collect the rate of |-d in the £ in the Paeroa Water Supply District.
