Dear Sir, —In your issue of 22nd iust., under heading "Election Notes," jrou make the announcement that the Liberal Federation League of Paeroa (meaning presumably , the Paeroa Branch of the Liberal Federation) met on Monday night and rescinded previous resolutions in regard to pledging members to one candidate. Then follows a oomment stating that '"it would thus appear that members of the Federation could vote for whom they would." Again in your leading article you refer to what you are pleased to tenu the " so-called " ' Liberal Federation met on Thursday night, and "let all candidates go as you please." I now desire to state that your reporter is entirely misinformed, and that your election note is absolutely untrue. The members of the Liberal Federa* tion bind thomselves on joining to vote for the candidate ultimately chosen by the League, and the resolution carried at a meeting of "the Baeioa Branch, which was held on Monday night, gave to members the.Tight to vote in the Federation ballot for any member they chose, and tht names of all announced candidates will b« on the ballot papers. [The source from which we derived our information waa a member of the League itself, whom, we understand, was at both the Monday's and Thursday's meetings mentioned. The ballo^ we understood, was' the General Election ballot. Nothing was said to us by the gentleman in question as to the ballot being that of the Federation League.
