A large number cf the horses that were raced at Beaumont are engaged and the forrii shown there should be a guide for prospects on Saturday.

Jottings Radiant Chief, who is to carry 8,12 and will start from No. 7 barrier position, was omitted from the Trial Handicap in the list of Tapanui acceptances published yesterday. The, Royal Sovereign gelding New World was an easy winner of the Birchwood Novice Stakes at the Wairio meet* mg last month and he is not likely to "be far out in the betting on the Dwyer Memorial Handicap at Tapanui on Saturday. A four-year-old from a Balboa mare, he is trained by J. Thistleton. A Popular Win

One of the most popular wins at Beaumon* on Monday was that of Silver Clipper, who was successful In the Apprentices' Handicap and is trained by the veteran Oamaru trainer T. Hobbs, who does not win out of his turn. The Airway four-year-old was allowed to go out at » long price because a race of six furlongs was generally believed to be far enough for him, but on this occasion' he hung on gamely at the end of seyen and a-half furlongs to get a very narrow decision.
