CHEVIOT HANDICAP

Ascot To Reappear

If Ascot can make a good beginning from the second outside berth on the front mark of the Cheviot Handicap, the second leg of the double at the Rangiora-Cheviot Trotting Clubs meeting on Saturday, he will make the task of his opponents a difficult cne. Ascot has speed to burn, but is not tractable at the barrier. A five-year-old, he is bred to win races, being by U. Scott out of Tondeleyo, who is from imported parents—Wrack and Estella Amos, a mare by Dale Axworthy from Arleigh M. H., by Nutwood Wilkes. Estella Amos left Ganton, Imperial Jade, and tilt triple New Zealand Cup winner, Indianapolis. Ascot has been off the scene since the Oamaru meeting in May, and if he has improved his barrier manners he is likely to reach good class.
