Nurses’ War Memorial
A report that £l7O had been raised in' North Otago for the British Empire Nurses’* War Memorial Appeal was made at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru RSA on Tuesday night. Mr E. Cameron was in the chair, and also present were Messrs P. O'Connor, C. Zimmzrmann, L. R. Webb, M. H. R. Jones, G. S. Sharpe, I T. Catto, R. J. Wilson, and A. C. Watson.
Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives in t.ie death of Miss Biin and Mr W. Shirkey, with Mr M. A. Carson in the death of his wife. Mr H. I Clark in the death of his mother, and with Mr J. Luxon in the death of his sister.
It was reported tr.at the Oamaru RSA Bowling Club had forwarded £750 towards the association's club building fund. Advice was received from the Dominion secretary that Mr W. Burdett. of Weston, had been selected as one of the delegation to travel to Australia in 1951 and take part in the Anzac Day ceremonies.
It was reported that approximately £250 and a fat bullock had been contributed towards the association's building fund recently through the activities of the canvassers.
Mr A. F. Stock was appointed to fill the vacancy on the executive caused by the death of Mr W. Shirkey. It was reported that the clubroom building fund stood at £10,338 3s 3d, and payments had totalled £4500.
