Motor Cyclist Fatally Injured

PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. A motor cyclist was fatally injured and his pillion rider injured in a collision with a motor van in Hawker street, Wellington, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The driver of the motor cycle was Mr S. Payne, a tram conductor, of Boulcott street, Wellington, who was taken to the Wellington Hospital suffering from concussion, a compound fracture of the left ankle, and a lacerated left foot. He died in hospital at 6.45. The pillion rider, Mr M. Richardson, a tram conductor, of 14 Home street. Wellington, was treated at the hospital and discharged. The motor cycle, travelling down Hawker street, crashed into the van, which was travelling uphill.
