THE CHURCH IN KOREA
Sir, —In answer to many inquiries received concerning the National Council of Churches Christmas appeal for the churches •in Korea, there are several points which I should like to make clear. In the first place, no money from this appeal will be sent to Korea until it is certain that it will get there and that the churches will be able to use it effectively for Christian purposes. Secondly, ft should be remembered that the longer this time is in coming, whether because of a blockade or because of suppression of the churches, the greater will be the need of the churches and of the country generally. Every delay will Intensify the need. Finally, ft has been suggested that there may never be a time when the churches will be able to function effectively,. <so that the money given in this appeal will never be used as intended. This suggestion we emphatically repudiate. Even should Korea become a completely Communist country, our experience in other parts of the world leads us to believe that we will still be able to co-operate with the churches there in preaching the Gospel and .relieving human misery.—I am, etc.. The Rev. Alan A. Brash. Christchurch.
