THE ROYAL CHRISTMAS

Family Gathering At Sandringham Rec. 7 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 11. There will be a large Royal Family party at Sandringham for Christmas. According to present plans Princess Elizabeth will be back from Malta and she will go to Norfolk to join the King and Queen accompanied by Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Others in the royal party will be Queen Mary, Princess Margaret (who will fly back from Malta with Princess Elizabeth a few days before Christmas), the Duchess of Kent and her children, and Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone. The Court, as a whole, will move to Sandringham on Thursday, December 21. There will be a Privy Council meeting before the King leaves London. The } King created a precedent by dining at Woolwich as the principal guest of 129 serving or retired officers of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, of which he is colonel-in-chief. It was the first time that a monarch of England has dined in the regiment’s mess which was built in 1302. At the King's right hand sat Master Gunner Fieldmarshal Viscount Alanbrooke.
