OCEAN YACHT RACES
New Sydney Craft A Favourite NZPA—Copyright Rec. 9.45 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 11. The new yacht Solveig, built by the Halvorsen brothers, of Sydney,, who also built the trans-Tasman race winner Peer Gynt, is already one of the favourites here for the Sydney to Hobart and Trans-Tasman Races. She is named after the girl who waited for the Norse legendary hero, Peer Gynt, while he sailed around the world in search of happiness. But the new Solveig will do no waiting. Manned by T. and M. Halvorsen and the New Zealand yachtsman, Terry Howard, and three others, she will race to Hobart and then leave there for Auckland to take part in the New Zealand event. She has a canoe stern and is the same length as the Peer Gynt, but her beam is three feet less, giving her only onethird the displacement of the older yacht.
