IMPROVED POSITION
Hydro-electric Storage In South Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. “ The rain in the South Island watersheds during the week just ended came at a very opportune time,” said the general manager of the State Hydroelectric Department, Mr A. E. Davenport, today. There had been a further improvement in the storage position. The overhaul at Highbank was proceeding, and it was hoped to have the station in service again shortly. Mr Davenport quoted figures which showed that for the week ended at midnight on Sunday there was a gain of 3,350,000 units, although the power used was 4.65 per cent, above the allocation.
