MINISTER’S COMMENT
Government Considering Scheme PA AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. The Government was considering the new scheme proposed by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board for the distribution of New Zealand meat in Britain, said the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Holyoake, in a telephone interview from Dannevirke, tonight. He was commenting on a cablegram from London which stated that the Smithfield representatives appeared cautious about the scheme. “We will have to consider two questions —first, whether the present legislation empowers the Meat Board to undertake such activity, and secondly, whether the scheme would be advisable in the interests of the meat industry,” said Mr Holyoake. “I hope the Government will be in a position to consider the matter in the near future.”
