CAUTION NECESSARY
“Fourteen years of application of Socialist policy cannot be jettisoned in a short period without serious consequences,” said the president of the Canterbury ' Manufacturers’ Association, Mr T. H. Lawn, at the annual meeting of the association. “ The Government appears, therefore, to be proceeding cautiously, not with the caution of fear but of prudence, in the matter of clearing the decks in regard to importation. I feel all manufacturers will have time to meet inevitable readjustments, and in this regard, the Manufacturers’ Federation, following its offer of the closest co-operation with the Government, has already made suggestions that should assist towards this end.”
