NOVICE’S GOOD RECORD

Bronzette Well Related Bronzette, who finished too well for Bleupietro in the Waituna Handicap No. 1 at Waimate on Saturday, has now had three races for a win and a fourth. She is a four-year-old mare by the New Zealand Cup winner Bronze Eagle from Statuette, „by New Derhy from Native Queen, by Native King from- Rawene, by Albert Victor. Native Queen was the dam of Maltravers, Chelidon, Keewah, Native Scott and Sparkling Sunshine, who produced the brilliant Attack to Light Brigade. Bronzette is trained at Addington by J. Young. If she starts in the Introductory Handicap at the Rangiora-Cbeviot Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday she will have bright prospects of adding to her record. Jotting At its inaugural meeting the Waimate Trotting Club used the basic unit of 5s as recommended by the Gaming Commission, for its doubles totalisator. It is, therefore, the fifth club to have followed the commission’s advice in this matter. The other four are also trotting clubs. Useful Trotter The runner-up to Skyline in each of the trotting events on the Wairio Trotting Club’s programme on Saturday, Sure Friend, was only once placed in 14 starts last season. She had shown some ability in most of her other starts, however, ana she usually finished near the placed horses. She displayed a tendency to break in her last few races, but now she is at her best she may regain winning form when more favourably placed. Beaumont Winner Cubit, winner of the two trotting Events on the first day of the Beaumont Racing Club’s meeting, should, go on to better things. Although he was opposed by weak fields, the manner in which he won left the impression that he may develop into a good winner on southern tracks. He is now a member of J. Walsh’s team at Gore. Dillon Hall Colt The Dillon Hall colt Tactful, who won the Ohai Trial Handicap No. 2 at Wairio on Saturday, was making, his first public appearance. He is from Peggy Rey, a Rey de Oro mare from Prairie Queen, by Four Chimes from Myola, by O.Y.M. To Adioo Guy, Myola left Moradine, who produced Aberhall to Dillon Hall and Quarter Deck to Black Globe. Tactful is trained at Mataura by D. Todd, who should have further success with him.
