Long ' Association With Roslyn Troop

After a 20-year association with the First Dunedin (Roslyn) Scout Troop, Mr I. C. Dickison has resigned _ from the position of scoutmaster. He joined the Cub pack in 1930. and after serving overseas, became scoutmaster in 1947. On Saturday night the Roslyn Troop, which is the second oldest in New Zealand, held its annual break-up function, and presentations were made to Mr Dickison. , ... Mr W. H. Hall, the deputy chairman, referred to Mr Dickison’s period of war service and made special mention of the help his scouting knowledge had been. After Italy capitulated, Mr Dickison escaped from a prisoner-of-war camp and, thanks largely to the training he had gained as a Scout, was able, after a most difficult time, to reach the British lines. Mr Hall presented Mr Dickison with a four-piece silver tea service on behalf of 4he parentis,' friends and committee members of the troop. The members of the troop presented Mr Dickison with an electric clock. Mrs Dickison was presented with a bouquet. During the evening prizes were presented fo Cubs and Scouts tor meritorious work during the year. A concert programme was followed by supper and dancing.
