BRITISH POSTERS
Display In Dunedin Not everyone can go to Britain. But Britain, in pictorial foi - m at least, has come to Dunedin. An excellent exhibition of publicity posters is at present on display in one of the leading stores of the city. The exhibition is not the property of Dunedin, however. As a gesture to the people of Canterbury during centeninal year the British Travel and Holidays Association, in conjunction with world headquarters of the Overseas League, has sent these pictures to the Dominion. The centrepiece of the display is a photograph of Canterbury Cathedral, bearing a message of greetings to the population of the province of Canterbury. The whole exhibition is a splendid illustration of British publicity, some of the coloured posters being particularly attractive. The British Travel and Holiday Association is the official organisation in Great Britain for “selling” Britain’s scenery and other intrinsic attractions. Last year 142,000 Americans visited Britain, spending some 72,000,000 dollars. Among other means of publicity, the organisation distributes 7,528,000 copies of 159 booklets, folders, magazines and similar publications overseas. 340,000 posters are sent abroad, and 14,000 photographs produced. Plans are being made by Dominion headquarters of the Overseas League to send the exhibition on tour throughout New Zealand.
