DRAMA LEAGUE
Visit By English Producer Possible The past year had been one of the most successful in the society’s history, said the president of the British Drama League (Otago area), Mrs J. Sutherland Ross, at the annual meeting last night. Mrs Ross said' it was hoped that near the end of 1951, the director of the British Drama League in England, Mr Martin Browne, would make a tour of New Zealand. Mr Browne was the producer of T. S. Elliot’s play, “The Cocktail Party.” It was decided to send a remit to national headquarters in New Zealand proposing that only one judge should be appointed for tne national final of the league festivals and that an adequate fee should be paid to the judge. Last year, for the first time since 1936, a school of drama was held during Labour Day week-end. It was agreed that the school should be held again next year. Office-bearers elected for the coming year were:—Patrons —the Mayor, Mr L. M. Wright, Lady Sidey, Professor T. D. Adams; president, Mrs J. Sutherland Ross; vice-presidents—Mesdames M. S.
