OVERLAND TREK

Plans Of Franklin Pony Club

PA AUCKLAND, Dec. 9. A 100-mile trek on horse-back for 150 members of the Franklin District Pony Club will begin at Papakura on January 20. It will be the first overland’trip organised by the club, one of the biggest pony clubs in New Zealand.

Most of the riders will be children from primer classes to teen-agers, and the leader will be Mr F. W. Storey. The horses will travel by easy stages to Kawakawa Bay down the east coast to Kaiau and back. One day will be set aside for games and competitions. Farmers have promised to paddock the horses. An advance party will carry camping gear in cars and trucks so that at the end of each day the travellers will find a camp established with a meal in preparation.
