SOUTHERN ENDOWMENT
Sir, —Mr Anderson, the Mayor of Port Chalmers, appears to be taking a most unusual interest—for a Port resident —in the welfare of Dunedin. This in normal circumstances would be a good and healthy sign. Mr Anderson claims that the ratepayers of Dunedin City only should foot the bill for half the cost of developing for industry lands reclaimed by the deposit of sludge from the channel. He suggests in reply to my letter of inquiry on certain important points that I see the secretary of the Harbour Board and get the information. Mr Anderson is deliberately evading the answer. Once he answers my questions—and who is better qualified than Mr Anderson, the Mayor of Port Chalmers? —I will certainly attend to his question regarding Mr Anderson is a member of the-Har-bour Board—he should surely be able to obtain the figures I require from the board’s secretary.—l am, etc.. Freeholder. ■
