POWER SITUATION
Overhaul Of Highbank Progressing The' overhaul 'of the Highbank hydro-electric power station is progressing satisfactorily, but it will be necessary to curtail the use of electricity during the next two weeks unless further rain falls. This information has been received by the Dunedin City Electrical Engineer, Mr G. T. Edgar, from the general manager of the State Hydro-electric Department, Mr A. E. Davenport. There was an improvement in hydraulic conditions during the past week, he said, and some increase in the storage of water was possible. The South Island exceeded its allocation by 5.59 per cent, last week and 4.63 per cent, the week previously.
