RAILWAYS BUS FARES

Sir,—The fare by NZR Road Service to Saddle Hill from Dunedin is being increased from Is single to Is sd. Yet to Mosgiel, two miles and a-half further, the fare is Is 7d from Dunedin. I, and others, consider the charge of 5d extra to Saddle Hill is excessive. Drivers of buses reckon that the charge as stated is unfair—ls 2d would be quite enough, to charge. Trusting that those in authority will rectify this unjust charge.—l am. etc Objection.

[The fares as stated were approved by the Transport Charges Committee which held a public sitting in Dunedin some months ago. said the Dunedin manager of the New Zealand Railway Road Services, to whom this letter was referred. Anyone with complaints against the charges could have submitted evidence at that sitting.—Ed., ODT.]
