Arctotis did not put much dash into his work in the October Handicap and it was obvious that the hard race he had at Ashburton the previous Saturday had taken the steel out of him. The Defaulter gelding was schooled over four hurdles at Wingatui yesterday morning with Siegform and he gave a very mu-h imDroved showing, taking each hurdle cleanly. ~ _ Handicaps for the first day of the Forbury Park meeting will be declared on Monday and withdrawals are due the same day.
