INTERPROVINCIAL WOMEN’S GOLF
HASTINGS, Sept. 19.
The Wellington women’s golf team won the Russell-Grace Cup when it defeated Canterbury in the final New Zealand inter-provincial teams’ match at Bridge Pa links, Hastings, today. In the Singles matches, Wellington won three games, lost one and halved two. In the Foursomes, Canterbury won a game and two others were halved, giving Wellington an over-all victory by three wins to two losses, with four matches halved. The details, with Wellington names mentioned first, are:—
Singles.—Mrs H. A. Murray halved with Miss Z. Hudson, Mrs D. A. E. Crombie beat Miss M. Vivian 5 and 4, Mrs J. B. Hatrick beat Mrs B. E. Andrewes 4 and 3, Mrs R. E. Tripe beat Miss H. R. Buchanan 1 up, Mrs R. J. Wellington halved with Miss E. M. B. Nutt, Mrs J. W. Tate lost to Miss K. Rutherford 1 down. Foursomfes.—Mesdames Murray and Crombie halved with Misses Hudson and Rutherford, Mesdames Hatrick and Tripe lost tp Mrs Buchanan and Miss Nutt 1 down, Mesdames Wellington and Tate halved with Mrs Andrewes and Miss Vivian.
