PROMPT RESPONSE
Request For Power Load Reduction In his report to the Waitaki Electric Power Board yesterday the engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, stated that on July 17, because heavy demands threatened to exceed the plant capacity, the board had been requested to reduce its load between 11 a.m. and noon. Ten of the board’s largest industrial consumers were requested to reduce their loads, and their prompt response enabled the crisis to be met. The chairman, Mr A. B. Lang, when expressing thanks to these consumers, said the situation could possibly have become serious but for their co-operation. He mentioned that the overload was over the whole of the South Island.
