Mr and Mrs R. C. B. Greenslade, Elm row, who have been on a visit to Fiji, have returned home. Mrs W. T. Gibson, George street, who has been the guest of Mrs L. Lawrence, of Oamaru, has returned home. - Mrs Harold Napier, who will leave today on a visit to Britain, has been the guest of honour at parties recently given for her by Mesdames H. Balk, R. E. Davidson. E. Charteris, M. Buchanan and H. F. Aburn. Miss Wanda Ros will be the guest speaker at the Travel Club tomorrow morning. The hostesses will be Mrs Winston Brinsley and Mrs J. M. Paterson. f Among delegates to the Dominion conference of the Women’s Institute being held at Christchurch are Miss Bell and Mrs Campbell (Green Valley), Mrs Murphy (Dunback), Mrs D. Pringle (Palmerston), Mrs F. R. Cameron and Mrs J. V. McFee (Waikouaiti), Mrs C. Walker (Karitane), and Mrs B. Beattie (Waitati). The Otago Ski Club held its annual dance last Wednesday at Larnach’s Castle. The president, Mr N. Joel, and Mrs Joel received the guests, wno numbered 150. Members of the club had transformed the ballroom into a snow-scape, where pine trees and snowmen gave an appropriate setting for the ball. To mark the bi-centenary of the year of the death of J. S. Bach, a Bach programme was arranged for the July meeting of the Society of Women Musicians, and a large attendance of members received the fine programme with enthusiasm. Mrs Yetti Bell, in introducing the items, spoke briefly of the life and work of the great composer. Items were given by Misses Jessie Jones and Jessie Flamank (piano duos), Chase Clark (piano solos), Mrs Kirschner and Jessie Jones (violin and piano). Miss Peggy Baker and Miss Honor McKellar,, songs, and part songs by the choral group. Accompanists were Mrs Scott and Miss C. Dunn. Miss Louise Burton, national secretary of the YWCA, has been visiting the Dunedin association during the past week, and on Thursday evening the association gave an At Home so that members could meet her. The president, Mrs C. M. gegg, introduced Miss Burton, who gave an account of the ways in which the grants from the Dunedin World Fellowship had been spent in Greece and in Burma. During the evening musical Items were provided by Misses Barnett, Thomson, Manson, Clark, Penfold and Angell. An exhibition of fencing by members of the YWCA Club with comments by the captain, Mr Brian Ward, followed and a social hour concluded the function.
