DOMAIN BOARD Though no major works or improvements had been carried out by the board during the past year, the areas under the board’s control were all in good order, said the chairman of the Clyde Domain Board. Mr J. L. Davidson, at the annual meeting of the board recently. The various sports clubs had looked after their respective portions of the Domain very well, he said. The bowling, croquet, tennis and golf areas all showed careful attention, and the Recreation Ground was in the best condition it had ever been, due to the sood work of the Football and Cricket Clubs. The Clyde War Memorial Committee wrote asking if the board would consider making the fire brigade section available) as a site for a new town hall, but the board decided it could not make the site available to the committee, as the tire brigade proposed to build a now tire station there. Already a plan for the new station had been approved. It was decided to arrange for the roughcasting' of the pavilion on the Recreation Ground and to purchase a set of four new swings for the children s playground. . ... The financial statement showed that the vear had been commenced with a credit of £lls 9s 9d. Receipts for the year were £2OB 15s 2d. and the total payments were £IOB 7s 4d. On March 31, 1950, the board’s credit was £215 17s 7d. Accounts totalling £7 14s 9d were passed for paym Mr J. L Davidson was re-elected chairman of the board for the ensuing year, and Mr T. Stevens was nominated for the vacancy on the board owing to the resignation of Mr L. R. Williams
