Rayner Wins St. Kilda Three Miles WEEK-END RUNS St. Kilda Club.—The St. Kilda Club’s Three-mile Senior, Junior and Colts’ 880 Yards Handicaps were held In ideal conditions. In the senior event the early leaders were J. Jacobson and G. Middle - miss, with the backmarker, L. Rayner, reducing the gap. Coming past the twomile mark, Rayner had assumed control, but Middlemiss threw out a strong challenge. Rayner came again, however, to win in an exciting finish by ssec, with Jacobson back in third place. In the junior event, W. McKay was in control early, but with half the distance covered A. Gascoigne and W. Cootper had run to the front. At the finish the scratch man, G. Smith, came through nicely to win by a good margin, followed by Cooper and Gascoigne. Results:—Seniors: L. Rayner (scr) 1, G. Middlemiss (2min) 2, J. Jacobson (2min) 3; time, 18min ssec. Juniors: G. Smith (scr) 1, W. Cooper (lmin) 2, A. Gascoigne (lmin 45sec) 3; time, 17min 46sec. Colts’ 880 Yards: J. Harris 1, B. Stevenson 2, G. Stewart 3. Mornington Harriers.—The Mornington Harrier Club held its Two Miles and Colts’ Quarter-mile Handicap Races at Forbury Park. J. Armstrong won the Colts’ Quarter-mile and G. Bennett was first in the Two Miles with D. Stephenson and W. Harris second and third respectively. The time was llmln 25sec. Anglican Club.—The Anglican Harrier Club held its weekly run from the St. Clair Baths. The pack, under Captain Mitchell, set a steady pace to Lawyer’s Head, where they moved on to the beach, and an excellent run home of nearly three miles resulted in Williams first home closely followed by Marr, with Cowie in third place. Celtic United Club. —The Celtic United harriers held their weekly run from the St. Kilda bathing pavilion. The fast pack, led by G. Grey, ran over the course chosen for the handicap cross-country at a smart pace. J. Gray, F. Cameron and L. Tucker were always prominent. The slow pack under K. Gilleck held an easy run along tire sand. However, in a fast run home K. Walls, A. Woodhouse and B. Griffiths filled the first three places. Leith Club.—The Leith Harrier Club held its weekly run from the northern training shed at the Gardens. The medium pack ran up the Bullock Track to Maori Hill under the guidance of L. Donaldson through the reservoir and returned vit Leith Valley. Prominent during the run were R. Perry and G. Stichman. The run home resulted as follows: W. Elder 1. R. Temoero 2, J. Sprague 3. The road ran up through Leith Valley and home through Pine Hill. Tile run home resulted as follows: F. Perry 1, D. Arthur 2, G. Patrick 3. Civil Service Club.—A pleasant run was held at Mr and Mrs Collins’s residence at 43 Glen road. Prominent runners in the fast pack were L. Bradshaw, A. McKernan and R. Wilkinson. In the sprint home A. McKernan was followed by f Weedon and B. Eckhoff. The slow and colts' packs were lead by B. Mayfield and G. Pearce, with E. Rendle third.
