WAIAREKA SALE
Fat Cattle Sell Well Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, May 16. There was a medium yarding of fat cattle at today's Waiareka sale, the majority being of light weight. Prices showed a rise bv 10s to £1 a head on late rates. Store cattle sold at full market rates. A medium yarding of fat sheep was also offered and these sold at prices Is 6d to 2s a head above those at recent sales. A small yarding of store sheep met with a ready sale and sold at prices firm to a shade better on recent sales. Quotations: — Fat Cattle.—Bullocks: Medium, to £2O 7s 6d; light, £l2 12s 6d to £ls 17s 6d. Heifers: Prime, £l4 2s 6d to £ls 17s; medium. £ll 2s 6d to £l3 12s Gd; light. £5 17s 6d to £9 17s Gd. Cows: Prime, £l2 12s 6d to £ls 2s Gd: light, £9 17s 6d to £l2 2s 6d. Store Cattle.—A pen of yearling steers. £4; a pen of yearling heifers, £2 10s; a pen of cows with calves at foot, £l4 15s. Dairy cows: Second-calvers, £l3 10s to £l6 10s; third-calvers, £lO 15s: September calvers, £9 10s.
Fat Sheep.—Wethers: Prime, 63s to 65s 9d; medium. 51s 9d to 55s 9d: aged, 45s 3d to 55s sd. Ewes: Maiden, 42s 3d; prime, 45s 9d to 47s 9d; medium. 41s ,9d to 44s 3d; light, 35s 9d to 38s. Lambs: Prime, 55s 3d; medium, 37s 9d. Store Sheep.—Wether lambs: 34s to 355: a pen of forward second wethers, 50s.
