CAPPING DAY SERVICES
Sir " Wide Awake ” tells us there was congestion on the Port Chalmers train last Wednesday, the day of the capping procession. The Clinton train was worse, as it had only two carriages—the usual number on Wednesdays being four or five If the Railways Department had had any foresight, they would have put on extra carriages to the usual number, not taken them off. No extra carriages were put on until the train reached Mosg'lt’ was no laughing matter to the people who had to stand crushed against each other, but it is laughable the way they manage things in the Railways Department. Is this their idea of Travel in Comfort? ’’—l am, etc.. Traveller.
