COMMUNITY SING
The Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, will officially open the twentieth season’s sing on Friday at the St. James Theatre, commencing at noon. The British Isles Rugby team has accepted the invitation to attend, and it will be the first British Rugby team to visit the sing. An invitation has been sent to the members of the Otago Rugby team also. Mr J. F. Himburg will lead the sing during Mr Desmoulin’s absence. Mr A. H. Pettitt will be at the piano. . The proceeds will be devoted to Food for Britain. Hundreds of letters have been received from widows, old-age pensioners and invalids thanking the committee for the food parcels. Two Toories (British and Otago colours) have been donated and will be sold at the sing. Flowers, goods, etc., are acceptable for the stall. Donations may be sent to Mr J. F. Himburg, secretary, care Chas. Begg and Co.
