WATER SUPPLY
Big Gain In Storage RESTRICTIONS LIFTED The total water storage in the Dunedin reservoirs at 8 a.m. yesterday was 133,116,000 gallons. As a result of an increase in storage of 30,338,000 gallons since Friday morning, the restrictions on the use of water imposed on April 5 have been discontinued. The restrictions applied to the use of hoses and the flushing of conveniences. In addition, the high level augmenting supply to the low levels was shut off to reduce pressure in the central city area. The higher pressure will now be restored. The chairman of the Water Committee of the City Council, Mr N. D. Anderson, told the Daily Times yesterday that the council, by removing the restrictions, had honoured its promise to do so when the storage reached 120,000,000 gallons. He added that it was unlikely that further restrictions would be necessary this season.
The big increase in storage resulted principally from a steady rainfall totalling o.Blin'in < the Sullivan’s dam area on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The fall at Ross Creek in the same period was only O.lOin, and there was little rain in the Whare Flat area, where the total fall for the three days was o.oßin.
