BENEFICIAL RAIN
A beneficial rain, which, unfortunately, was mainly confined to the coastal districts, was experienced in North Otago during the week-end. Winter sowing of wheat will be held up for a few days, but the benefit of the rain to other crops will amply compensate this. The Papakaio area was becoming particularly parched, and it is reported that one or two farmers were contemplating selling their stock because of feed shortages. In Oamaru the rainfall recorded by Mr F. G. Russell, Till street, amounted to 46 points and at Enfield 25 points fell The rainfall at Papakaio was 75 points.
