HARD RUGBY MATCH
Cromwell Defeats Clyde Special to the Daily Times ALEXANDRA, May 14. In the best Rushy football match played so far this year in the county, Cromwell defeated Clyde at Clyde by 16 points to 10. Toe game , was hard and fast throughout. The Cromwell forwards dominated the scrums and line outs. Both sets of backs handled well, and their defensive work was good. For Clyde, O.’Reilly played well, scoring two tries, both of which he converted. For Cromwell, Perry, Smith and Crighton each scored a try, and Hamman converted two tries and kicked a goal from a penalty. Mr D. Eckhoff was the referee. Other results:— Seniors. —Bannockburn 8, Tarris 8; Queenstown 9, Alexandra 6: Matakanui as Wan.nlfq 3 Juniors.—Clyde 11, Alexandra 6: Cromwell 21, Matakanui nil; Country 14, Wanaka 11. BOWLING CLUB SMOKO There was a large attendance at the Alexandra Bowling Club’s annual smoko and presentation of prizes on Saturday night. The president. Mr J. H. McKellar, was in the chair, and extended a special welcome to the Dominion councillor, Dr R. E. Austin, and Mr J. L. Davidson, secretary of the Central Otago Bowling Centre. Items were presented by Messrs D. Henderson, D. Duerdin, A. Maslin, and E. Aimers. Mr Ewen Cameron was at the piano.
