Dunedin Competition Only two matches were played in the senior men’s hockey competition on Saturday owing to the University and Training College vacations., The two matches were played at Tonga Park, where the long grass and greasy surface made it practically impossible to play good hockey. Results of the matches:— HSOB 4, United nil. TCOB 5. Wesley 4. HSOB v. UNITED High School Old Boys did not play up to their true form against United and lacked thrust in their attack. This may have been caused by changing J. Porter from right wing to right half. United played well, but were unable to break the Old Boys' defence. For Old Boys G. Wright and V. McArley were outstanding, while for United G. Paterson and R. Smiler were excellent on defence. The scorers for Old Boys were G. Wright (2). S. Swift (1), and V. McArley (1). The umpires were Messrs W. Osmand and R. Smithson. TCOB v. WESLEY < After an even game, Technical Old Boys snatched victory in the last few minutes when D. Sarkles scored, making the final result 5—4. The game was spoilt by the hard hitting on both sides. Scorers for Technical Old Boys were J. Alexander (3), B. Andreanand (1), and D. Sarkles (1). For Wesley the scorers were R. Vickers (2), W. Hickman (1), and K. Thomson (1). The umpires were Messrs H. Johnson and H. M. Tyrrell.
