INCREASED REVENUE
Needs Of A. And P. Association
Wavs and means of raising finance were discussed at the annual meeting of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday after the presentation of the balance sheet, which showeu a deficit on the year’s working. Mr J. A. C. McKenzie, who was In the chair, said the association had been involved In heavy expenditure during the year. Mr R. B. Meek, the treasurer, suggested that a drive should be made for additional members and also that a subscription list be opened. He said that heavy expenses would be incurred in future in the general maintenance of the grounds, and provision should be made immediately for such maintenance. Mr D. Kennedy suggested that cars entering the grounds on show day be charged ss, and that the membership fees be raised by 2s 6d. Small increases might also be made in the gate charges. Finally, the question was referred to the incoming committee for considerati<Officers elected were:—President. Mr D. Malcolm; vice-president. Mr James Kingan; treasurer, Mr R. B. Meek; committee—the retiring members were reelected with the addition of Messrs J. McDonald and J. A. Brown; auditors, Messrs Smith and Pearce. Mr J. Simpson, retiring member of the executive, who did not seek re-election, was elected a life member. General Meeting After the annual meeting a general meeting was held. ... .. Correspondence was received from the South Canterbury Pony Club suggesting that agricultural and pastoral associations in the surrounding districts should adopt a System of measuring ponies prior to the show season to save time in the ponv sections on show davs. The club suggested that a certificate showing the correct height of the pony could be issued. —It was decided to refer the letter to the Oamaru Pony Club for its cqnsideration and report to a later meeting of the association
