SALVAGE RATES
Drivers’ Request WAIPIATA CARGO PA WELLINGTON, May 12. Drivers employed carting cargo from the Waipiata at Wellington are understood to have asked for a salvage wage rate of 15s an hour. This rate was allowed earlier this week to waterside workers who are handling the cargo on the wharf. The claim has been referred to th* Disputes Committee in the driving industry, of which Mr H. M. Hopper, Conciliation Commissioner, is chairman.
