DOUKHOBORS ARRESTED
Further Outbreak Of Arson And Nudism Rec. 9 p.m. VANCOUVER, May 11. Fifty-four Doukhobors who stripped off their clothes and burned five houses in Krestova yesterday were arrested today on charges of arson and nudism. One of the 22 women in the group was Vera Kanigan, a 20-year-old ravenhaired beauty, who led the nude march of teen-agers a fortnight ago. The police fear that yesterday’s outburst may herald a new surge in the three-week reign of terror in the Kootenay Valley, during which 30 Doukhobor houses have been destroyed by fire. “We will burn to the last man,” declared Fred Maloff, whose home was among those destroyed yesterday.
