ADVICE TO IMPORTERS

Need For Watchfulness SHIP’S FIRST PORT OF UNLOADING PA AUCKLAND, May 11. Shippers in the United Kingdom are advising importers in New Zealand not to insist on the despatch of goods in ships arriving at Auckland first. They say that if importers do, goods may accumulate to an embarrassing extent. This is due to the fact that more and more vessels are now making Wellington the first port of unloading because of the serious delays encountered in Auckland. The shippers say there has been a noticeable reduction in recent months in the number of ships scheduled for Auckland first, and it will be increasingly difficult to ship if importers make that stipulation. Sailing cards held by Birmingham firms show that the Rangitoto, Sussex and Brisbane Star, sailing this month, will call at Wellington first.
