NOT FAVOURED
Amalgamation Plan PA WELLINGTON. May 10. The New Zealand Technical School Teachers’ Association does not favour amalgamation with other teachers’ organisations on lines discussed up to the present. The Dominion conference of the association today rejected proposals to unite with either the New Zealand Educational Institute, composed mainly of primary school teachers, or the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Association, or both. The issue was kept open, however, when, after a debate, a member of the executive, Mr -J. V. Burton, of Dunedin, gave notice that he would move at the 1951 conference, a motion proposing the formation of a New Zealand society of teachers. This would be on the basis of a constitution prepared by the Technical School Teachers’ Association and the New Zealand Educational Institute and presented at this year’s conference.
