Public Servants Discuss Salaries With Mr Holland
Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, May 10. A delegation from the combined State services organisations met the Prime Minister, Mr Holland, this afternoon for three hours’ discussion of State employees’ salary claims and public service conditions generally. The delegation represented the nine State service organisations. It pressed .the claims of public servants for the raising of salary scales to bring them .into line with rates paid outside the service. The employees’ representatives, before going into Conciliation Council with the State representatives, are seeking an indication of the Government’s attitude to their claims. A statement on today’s talks is to be issued after consultation among the service organisations tomorrow. *
