WELL-BRED YOUNGSTER

Member Of Desert Gold Family A large number of good-looking rising two-year-olds are being handled at Invercargill, and among those with a wealth of high-class blood in their pedigrees is a black filly by Robin Goodfellow from Tirea, who was purchased for 375gns at the yearling sales by Mr W. D. Palmer. She is being trained by J. Taylor, who is also handling a colt by Kairee from Sunny Paper,- the dam of Omega, Mr Micawber and Gay. rGitana, and a filly by Beau Vite from Golden Rod, the dam of Veldette and others. The Robin Goodfellow filly is a halfsister to a good winner in Biassed and Sharessa, a recent winner in Australia, their dam, Tirea, being by St. Boswells from Golden Opportunity, the dam of Rakanui, the winner of 17 races and £8765 in stakes. Golden Opportunity was an unraced half-sister to Gold Rod, winner of 16 races, including the AJC Epsom and Doncaster Handicaps, to Aqueduct and to Oregon, dam of the New Zealand St. Leger winner, Desert Fox. Golden Opportunity’s dam. Oreum, was a daughter of the famous race mare Desert Gold. The filly should be well forward by the time the McLean Stakes are run and she is bred to go a long way.
